Chinnor Rugby Club held their annual Oktoberfest beer festival on Saturday 29th September 2012 and what an event it turned out to be. Over 1000 people turned out for the event and were treated to more than just very fine ale.

Along with over 50 real ales available for tasting the club also put on live music with five artists / bands playing throughout the day and well into the night, with Academy Audio providing the sound and stage lighting system for the event and giving the event a real festival like atmosphere.

Needless to say the beer flowed throughout and the majority who attended stayed for the entire event.

Local youth band The Experiment kicked things off with a mixture of modern rock and covers and did a great job in warming up the crowd. Laura Williams followed with a fantastic acoustic performance, her vocals and guitar playing really getting everyone in the mood as she played a number of well-known songs that got everyone singing and finished with an anthemic medley that was just to die for!

The O'Reelys combined a mixture of Irish and Gaelic folk songs with electro acoustic guitar, fiddle and banjo which had everyone singing and swaying. A class act that completely lifted and worked the audience, Martyn simply had them wanting more!

More came with Joshua Gilbert, in abundance! What can we say about Josh? To see and hear him playing is an experience not to be missed. Boundless energy and a larger than life persona, he had the audience jumping up and down and eating out of the palm of his hand. His acoustic performance combined short snippets of well-known songs, a number of his own songs and plenty of audience interaction, he got everyone completely involved in his music. Quite simply he owned the stage and the audience loved it.

Local Thame band Transit finished off the night with an hour long performance playing modern rock and covers. Very much influenced by the likes of the Jam their performance was diverse and included a number of well-known 80s and 90s songs from Toto (Africa) all the way through to Michael Jackson, which had everyone dancing and singing. What a way to end the evening, in fact no-one wanted to go home and everyone wanted more!
